Abstract
To the Editor: A recent letter in the Journal (April 10 issue)1 reported diabetic retinopathy in a 22-year-old woman with cystic fibrosis. This letter deals with another microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus in a young adult with cystic fibrosis — progressive nephropathy.A 30-year-old man had received a diagnosis of cystic fibrosis at four years of age, when he presented with failure to thrive and recurrent respiratory infections. Diabetes mellitus was diagnosed at nine years of age, and insulin therapy was started shortly thereafter.
