Abstract
Interaction of θ=0° spin waves with drifted helicons is analyzed, and a convective instability is predicted. The mechanism for amplification is due to the second‐order rf electron field in the drift direction. This Lorentz field, Ez=ṽtrans×B̃trans=ṽtrans×μefftrans is large because μeff is large in the region of synchronism between the spin wave and the electrokinetic wave.
