Abstract
The use of single-subject designs is a promising research strategy for those wishing to strengthen the empirical base of practice. However, most single-subject research to date has been done on behavioral treatment, whereas most social workers engage in treatment that is nonbehavioral. In this article, the author explores the special clinical and methodological issues that arise when nonbehavioral practitioners attempt to undertake research on single cases. Keywords
