Abstract
Fos has been the main industrial achievement of the Vie Plan : two synoptic tables in 1974 and in 1977 clearly show the situation of the industrial area both at its very beginning and nowadays, thus allowing us to measure its evolution. But beyond its interest as a document the analysis of Fos enables us to give an interpretation of the policy of national and regional development which throws light on how the french economical system functions and which can be linked to the theory of C. CASTORIADIS about industrial societies.
