Abstract
The restoring force for the isovector rotational oscillations is calculated for the deformed nuclei 154Sm, 156, 158Gd, 164Dy, 168Er and 174Yb by expanding the symmetry energy in powers of the proton and neutron density deformations. Fairly good agreement with experimental energies of the 1+ states is obtained. The calculated B(M1) up arrow values are about seven times larger than those observed experimentally. Keywords
