Abstract
Iminodimethylenediphosphonic acid, HN[CH2 P(O)(OH)a %2%2, was prepared from tetraethyl t-butyliminodimethylenediphosphonate, t-C4 H 9 N[CH2 P(O)-(OC2H5)2%2% by simultaneous ester hydrolysis and isobutylene elimination in concentrated hydrochloric acid under reflux. The above ester required as starting material was obtained from N-methylene-t-butylamine, formaldehyde and diethylphosphonate. Keywords
