Exaltoside and 7-Epiexaltoside, Two Novel Acylated Secoiridoid Glucosides fromVillarsia exaltata*

Abstract

Aerial parts of Villarsia exaltata (Menyanthaceae) were investigated for secoiridoids. Two new acylated compounds of the “foliamenthintype”, named exaltoside and 7-epiexaltoside, have been isolated and structurally elucidated by spectroscopic means (¹H-, ¹³C-NMR, COSY, FAB and FD mass spectrometry).
