Abstract
Helveticone, the characteristic pigment from Chroogomphus helvetivus and Ch. rutilus sporophores has been identified as 2,4-Dihydroxy-3-farnesyl-1,4-benzoquinone (1). Minor pigments are bovine (2) and xerocomic acid, already known from the Boletaceae.Keywords
