Abstract
As an extension of previous work on methyl compounds, α-deuterium kinetic effects have been measured for ethyl, n-propyl, and isopropyl compounds. The effects can be accounted for in terms of current theory but a modification involving intramolecular van der Waals forces seems to provide a more satisfactory description of some of the processes involved in the production of the rate changes. Keywords
