Abstract
The canonical quantization of the spin- field is carried out in the presence of electromagnetic interaction by a suitable choice of canonical variables, which satisfy the usual commutation relations as well as Heisenberg's equations of motion. The present investigation shows that the canonical formalism can be developed consistently for the charged spin- field despite the enormous mathematical complications which appear in the treatment of high-spin fields.
