Abstract
A novel numerical solution to two-dimensional heat transfer in a participating gas confined within a channel is presented using a regularized and preconditioned Green's function method. A procedure based on the classical concept of regularization is used for converting the originally derived singular integral equation of the first kind, governing the temperature gradient distribution along the gas-wall interface, into an equivalent nonsingular integral equation. This manipulation permits the accurate and rapid solution of both gas temperature and wall temperature gradient distributions. Armed with only a simple integration scheme, the effectiveness of the method is revealed when the results are compared to existing solutions. Indications are that this method overcomes the usual difficulties associated with the entrance corners where a temperature discontinuity exists from the mathematical formulation. Keywords
