Abstract
In the Womens Hospital Peine from July 1, 1976 to December 31, 1979 503 artificial abortions were carried out by intracervical application of 3 mg PGF2-Alpha-Gel. In 82.5% of the cases patients had a spontaneous abortion or a cervical dilatation. Gastrointestinal side-effects were observed in 10.5% of the cases. 27.6% of the patients complained of acute pain. Complications due to the following mechanical dilatation did not occur. In three cases patients went into a state of shock after the gel-application. This, however, was quickly reversible. A systemic reaction an occur when PGF2-Gel is applied locally.
