Some magneto-hydrostatic effects in nematic liquid crystals

Abstract
This paper discusses static orientation patterns in nematic liquid crystals in the presence of magnetic fields. Some solutions of the equations of a continuum theory are presented, and these suggest experiments for the evaluation of coefficients in the theory due to Frank in 1958.Keywords
