Factors Affecting the Survival of Treponema pallidum in vitro.

Abstract
Preliminary observations on the in vitro survival of virulent T. pallidum (Nicholas strain) obtained from rabbit testicular syphilomas indicate that under a given set of exptl. conditions exposure to 5% CO2 had a definite prolonging effect on survival time. Survival was improved when incubation temps. below 37 C were employed. No evidence of multiplication was obtained.
