Abstract
Pure adrenaline dissolved in distilled water and kept in the dark showed only an insignificant O2 uptake. Ultra-violet radiation caused an acceleration of the oxidation even in very large dilutions. Adrenaline hydrochloride solution showed a much lower degree of oxidation (6 times less) than solutions of pure adrenaline. The higher the concentration of adrenaline, the greater was the absorption of O2, but the O2 uptake of higher concentrations was relatively less. In visible light the O2 uptake was less intense than in ultraviolet. The pink color developed by adren-line when exposed to radiation is related to the O2 uptake. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
