Evaluation of Technics and Complications of Renal Angiography

Abstract
SURGICAL relief of hypertension often depends on the removal of renal-artery obstruction.1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 The key to this procedure is the renal arteriogram, which allows a visualization of the renal vessels for diagnosis and planned surgical approach. We believe that reports in the literature of paraplegia, renal damage and death have given aortography an unjustifiably bad reputation, and, consequently, the procedure has not been used sufficiently for diagnosis. For this reason, we shall review complications previously reported, emphasize how these complications may be prevented, present evidence that angiography is a safe procedure when properly performed and outline in detail a safe technic. . . .
