Abstract
Impurities in serum are first removed by precipitation from 50% alcoholic solns. and the hormone relaxin then precipitated by the further addition of acetone. No loss is entailed and the equivalent of 25-50 ml. of serum can be injected in test animals without toxicity. Urine is dialyzed, evaporated to V20 its vol. and the active material precipitated by acetone. The precipitate which contains the hormone in a 90% yield is tolerated by the test animals in an amt. equivalent to 100 ml. original urine. Keywords
