Abstract
The Calman-Hine report (DoH 1995) proposed the delivery of a uniformly high level of cancer care across the UK. A network of services provided through cancer centres, cancer units (usually district general hospitals) and primary care is fundamental to the report’s recommendations. Those hospitals which meet specified criteria of excellence, providing care for both common and rare cancers, are to be designated cancer centres. Keywords
