Abstract
A method is described for the differentiation of obligate and facultative anaerobic bacteria from skin using the replica plating technique. Anaerobic cultures containing both facultative and strict anaerobes are replicated by means of sterile velvet and the replicates incubated in air. By comparing the replicate plate with the original anaerobic plate, facultative anaerobes can be recognized and the remaining anaerobes identified.
