Comparison of footboard and saddle supports for orthostatic tests on a tilt table.

Abstract
Using a standarized protocol controlling environmental, subject, and observer variables, 20 healthy young men were tilted head up to 60[degree] for 20 min. on 2 occasions to compare the responses using a footboard and a saddle as support devices for the body. By comparing symptoms and changes in heart rate, systolic, diastolic, mean, and pulse pressures, there was no significant difference between the responses to tilting using these devices. Under the conditions of this study, these 2 methods can be considered identical tests of cardiovascular response to orthostasis.
