The Jahn-Teller effect in manganic acetylacetonate

Abstract
The infra-red spectra of the tris-acetylacetonates of chromium, managanese, iron and aluminium have been measured as far as 400 cm-1. The nature of the bands due to vibrations involving motion of the oxygen atoms relative to the metal is consistent with the operation of the Jahn-Teller mechanism in the manganic compound. On a mesuré les spectres infra-rouges des tris-acetylacétonates de chrome, manganèse, fer, et aluminium, jusqu'à 400 cm-1. Dans le composé manganique, la nature des bandes dues aux vibrations qui mettent en jeu le mouvement des atomes d'oxygène par rapport au metal est en accord avec l'existence d'un mécanisme de Jahn et Teller. Die Infrarotspektren der Tris-Azetylazetonate von Chrom, Mangan, Eisen und Aluminium wurden bis zu 400 cm-1 vermessen. Die Art derjenigen Banden, die von solchen Schwingungen herrühren, bei denen sich die Sauerstoffatome relativ zum Metall bewegen, ist mit der Wirkung eines Jahn-Teller-Mechanismusses in der Manganverbindung vereinbar.Keywords
