Abstract
Think of the foyer of almost any international five‐star hotel, with thick glass self‐opening doors, controlled lighting and modern decor, plants and a fountain. It could be in any capital city of Europe. But it is not. It is at Hanley, Stoke‐on‐Trent, and it is not a hotel but the entrance hall of Century Oil's new 24‐acre complex, which includes a Group Headquarters and Communication Centre and a wholly computerised processing plant covering 100,000 square feet.
