Abstract
An oxetan is formed via an exciplex from the reaction of singlet-excited phenanthrene with ground-state dimethyl fumarate; the formation of cyclobutane adducts is preceded by intersystem crossing in the exciplex as well as via triplet phenanthrene.Keywords
