Abstract
Male Sprague-Dawley rats received 0.1 mg/kg of diethylnitrosamine orally 5 times a wk for life with or without additional subsequent administration of 5 ml/rat per day of a 25% aqueous solution of ethanol. The additional treatment with ethanol significantly reduced the induction of liver cancer, but not of esophageal tumors. These findings do not support speculations based on epidemiologic studies as to a cancer-causing effect of alcohol. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
