Abstract
This study sought to better delineate the nature of simple reminiscence, that is, the recall of past experiences. Studies of how reminiscence might enhance late-life development have been inconclusive, at least in part because of inadequate definition and measurement of the process. Using the constant comparative method, the investigator analyzed transcripts of older adults' reminiscences and found that the process consists of four elements: selection, immersion, withdrawal, and closure. Keywords
