Abstract
The sensitivity of 108 urinary pathogens was determined by a disc method and by four dilution methods, each using two break-point concentrations of each drug. In two of these methods the drugs were added to agar plates, in one by the inclusion of impregnated filter papers (Mast ‘Adapads’). In the other two methods inoculated broth was added to commercially produced plastic trays containing dried antibiotics (Seward's ‘Sensititre’ and API's ‘ATB’). The Gram-negative bacilli (98) were also tested against lower break-points suitable for systemic use. In general there was good correlation between these methods and the results obtained with disc tests. The uitability of the break-points used is discussed. Keywords
