Abstract
Drs. Wadlington, and Riley apparently have not had the unfortunate experience in their dependence on negative urine sugars in suspected galactosemia as we have had. Eleven years ago a physician's 2-month-old baby failed to thrive, had vomiting and diarrhea. Among other tests a careful examination of three urine specimens following milk feeds showed protein, amino acids and no reducing substance. Unfortunately, this was a time when no enzyme studies were available nor was a galactose tolerance performed.
