Abstract
THE rarity of gangrene of the breast is attested by the fact that this entity is not mentioned in most of the recent textbooks or monographs on diseases of the breast.Only occasional reports1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 have appeared describing cases of gangrene of the mammary gland attributed to various etiologic factors such as diabetes, infectious organisms and toxic agents, plastic surgical procedures and thrombophlebitis.This report was prompted by the observation of 2 cases in which gangrene of an entire breast followed the administration of anticoagulant drugs.
