Abstract
The electron density of an argon plasma jet is evaluated from probe measurements using several different theoretical treatments of probe behaviour in a dense plasma and the results are compared with those from spectroscopic measurements. It is concluded that none of the theories tested is adequate to evaluate the plasma density from the probe measurements. Keywords
