Abstract
The differential and the total cross sections for the elastic scattering of 30-912 eV electrons by hydrogen molecules are calculated in the plane wave approximation. The interaction potential consists of the first order static potential and the second order adiabatic and non-adiabatic potentials. One-centre wavefunctions are employed to obtain the static potential and the effect of exchange is included by employing Ochkur approximation. The differential cross sections include terms up to only third order in the interaction energy and are in fair accord with the experimental data. Keywords
