Abstract
Precise lattice parameter measurements of K2ZnCl4 have been performed in the (295–630) K range by means of the Bond method. The intensities of selected main and satellite reflections and the positions of the satellites in the reciprocal lattice were investigated with temperature by using a single-crystal X-ray diffractometer. It was found that only first-order satellites are present in the incommensurate phase between 400 and 555 K. In the high-temperature phase the b/c ratio becomes equal to √3, as in the case of a hexagonal lattice. However, according to the intensities displayed in the diffraction pattern, the crystal symmetry remains orthorhombic. Keywords
