Cryotreatment in Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy

Abstract
Large-surface transscleral freezing was performed in severe proliferative diabetic retinopathy and recurrent vitreous hemorrhages. Visual acuity improved in 8 of 21 eyes and remained unchanged or diminished further in 13. Rapid clearing of the vitreous was observed in 1/3 of the patients.
