Abstract
The origin of the low-grade uranium mineralization in Carboniferous shales of the Saint-Hippolyte area, France, is still in doubt. Two plausible explanations are outlined, and it is stressed that a sedimentary origin cannot be ruled out in spite of the presence of sulfides, generally considered an index of hydrothermal origin.
