Abstract
Electrochemical techniques were used to show that in dipolar aprotic solvents superoxide ion is an effective nucleophile in substitution (with primary and secondary alkyl halides), elimination (with tertiary and 2-aryl ethyl halides), and addition (to activated double bonds). Mechanisms inferred from instrumental studies were confirmed by controlled-potential electrolysis. Keywords
