Production of a “Goldblatt Kidney” by a Neuroblastoma in an Infant

Abstract
A neuroblastoma surrounding one renal artery in a 6-month-old infant produced renal ischemia and caused death by heart failure due to hypertension of the Goldblatt type. The heart was 3 times the avg. normal wt. with an hyper-trophied left ventricle but was otherwise normal. The kidney in which the artery was constricted was hypoplastic; the opposite was hypertrophied and showed benign nephrosclerosis.
