Abstract
Experiments were conducted at Chatham, Virginia during 1954 to 1956 inclusive in which soil around newly set tobacco plants was treated with insecticides in the transplant water. The results showed a high reduction in the number of tobacco flea beetles, (Epitrix hirtipennis (Melsh.)) which emerged from the soil. A wettable powder, or an emulsion formulation of aldrin, heptachlor, lindane or chlordane, at the dosages employed gave excellent to fair control. Demeton was less effective in the tests than the chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticides. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
