Abstract
To the Editor: I enjoyed very much Dr. Thomas's comparison of James Lind and Benjamin Rush entitled "Experiment versus Authority" (NEJM 281, No. 17).However, at the risk of being dubbed a minutia monger, I must challenge one of the author's "authorities." In reference 7, Garrison is cited to substantiate the statement, "an order enjoining the use of fruit juice throughout the Royal Navy was issued in 1795."
