Abstract
Summary The intestinal absorption of Mg28 plus 3 mg of carrier Mg was studied in normal and magnesium deficient rats. Absorption was distributed throughout the bowel in both groups, was quantitatively the greatest in the colon, and was increased in the deficient animals. The relative distribution of absorption did not appear to be significantly altered, indicating a generalized enhancement in the uptake of Mg from the alimentary tract in magnesium deficiency.
