Accurate method for high pressure PVT measurements and results for argon for T=−20 to +35 °C and p in the range 200–480 MPa

Abstract
An accurate method for determining the PVT properties of highly compressed gases is described. It is independent of other high pressure fluid data. Novel features are largely responsible for its relatively high accuracy. Some results obtained for argon give the density ρ(T, p) and hence the compressibility factor Z (T, p) with an uncertainty of 0.05%. They are presented graphically and in the form of fitted equations from which derivatives and thermodynamic quantities can easily be calculated. The results are compared with those of other experimenters who have worked in the present region.
