Abstract
Kinetic energies of ionic fragments have been measured by a new method in a mass spectrometer. Dissociative processes leading to the same products via different pathways have been observed. There is evidence for dissociations from both singly and doubly charged parent ions to yield fragments with excess kinetic energy. Values are given for excess kinetic energies, relative abundances of products from different processes, and the total excess kinetic energy from 100 eV electron impact. The data indicate that several dissociations may occur by a transfer from a bound excited state to repulsive excited states via potential surface crossing. Keywords
