Abstract
Summary: The birth weights of normal singleton Chinese, Malay and Indian babies, born between March, 1968 and December, 1971 at the University Hospital in Kuala Lumpur have been studied. The gestational age of these newborn babies was between 36 and 43 weeks. For each gestation, the arithmetical mean birth weights, standard deviations, standard errors, and the 10th, 50th and 90th per‐centiles were calculated. The mean birth weight of the Chinese babies at 40 weeks' maturity was 3,233 g; the Malay and Indian babies were lighter by 119 g and 200 g, respectively. The pattern of intrauterine fetal growth showed differences between the 3 community groups. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
