Abstract
Previously published chemical and physical data for the Urrbrae loam, and the conclusions drawn from these data concerning profile development, have been appraised. Translocation of clay seems likely to have played a significant role in the development of the Urrbrat: loam, a red-brown earth (calcic rhodoxeralf). Both A and B horizons apparently did not originate as distinct sedimentary deposits nor was much additional clay formed in position.
