COWPER’S GLANDS IN THE URETHROGRAM

Abstract
The normal anatomy of the bulbourethral glands and ducts and previous roentgenographic demonstrations of these structures by urethrography are reviewed. Ten additional instances of this uncommon finding are reported, without an obvious acquired cause in most cases. From this and previous studies, it appears that the finding may result from urethral strictures or infections or, more commonly, from a congenital dilatation of the ducts. The clinical significance of the anomaly seems negligible, except perhaps in more advanced cases where stone and infection could conceivably complicate the picture.
