Sexual instruction for the mildly retarded and normal adolescent

Abstract
RESEARCH into sex edu cation in schools for the mildly educationally subnor mal (ESNM) was achieved by studies, children and parents, together with comparisons with control groups from comprehensive schools. ESNM children were found to be conservative in atti tude, and lacking in know ledge. However, knowledge improved from contact with teaching. Analysis of questionnaires from ESNM schools indicated a variety of approaches, with consider able involvement in sex edu cation. Interviews with 93 parents of ESNM children indicated that 88 per cent approved of the school giving sex education, and a partic ular request was made for the teaching of contraception.
