Abstract
A range of sulphato-, nitro-, and nitrato-complexes of palladium, platinum, rhodium, and iridium have been prepared by reaction of sulphur dioxide, nitric oxide, or dinitrogen tetroxide respectively with the appropriate dioxygen complexes of these platinum metals. The failure of nitric oxide, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide to react with iridium dioxygen complexes is noted. The modes of co-ordination of the oxy-ligands are investigated by i.r. spectroscopy and apparent anomalies in the spectra of the co-ordinated sulphato-group are reported.
