Abstract
The scattering of light from plasmas embedded in a homogeneous magnetic field is analyzed. In the geometry where the momentum (wave vector) transferred to the system is perpendicular to , we discuss influence of the Bernstein and upper hybrid modes on the scattering. The analysis is done in some detail for a wide range of plasma parameters. Particular emphasis is placed on possible interesting experimentally observable phenomena in both gaseous and solid-state plasmas.
