Abstract
The rate of energy absorption by inverse bremsstrahlung of a plasma in an oscillating electric field is calculated. An expression for this rate is obtained that is valid for all ranges of the electron-plasma temperature and density and the electric field flux intensity and polarization. Analytical formulas are obtained for high-flux intensities where the rate is independent of the electron-velocity-distribution function. Keywords
