ON THE CONSISTENCY OF TWO DATA GATHERING PROCEDURES FOR RETIREES' LEISURE ACTIVITIES

Abstract
Findings reported in the literature vary concerning the leisure activities of retirees. A number of factors may account for this: stage of life cycle, cultural or social preferences and accuracy of data gathering procedures. One possible source of data error may be problems in memory recall. As a test the comparability of leisure activity data obtained from personal interviews and modified time budget studies is examined, using a randomly selected sample of twenty-three retirees residing in Windsor, Ontario, as the basis of the analysis.
