Abstract
Arginase purified by adsorption was indifferent to O2, only slowly destroyed by H2O2, but strongly inhibited by SH-compounds. Crude arginase preparations were activated by SH-compounds and other reducing agents such as hydrazine and Fe++, and reversibly inactivated by O2. This behavior of crude arginase is attributed to a component of the arginase system which is removed by purification.
