Abstract
The traditional end date for the Pueblo II ceramic type, Cortez Black-on-white, may be as much as 50 years too early. Several independent dates from a recently excavated Mesa Verde Anasazi site in Colorado—5MT 1786—suggest a modified end date of a.d. 1050 for this ceramic. This revision is significant to type-dependent survey and excavation temporal interpretations, particularly in cultural resource management and for sites with only limited testing.
